Artist's Statement

Peace is my ultimate goal, beginning with inner calm and concentration. Everything changes constantly and quickly in nature. I explore the countryside for images to snip out of the fabric of reality and save for later. The process of drawing forms and translating light into glazes of pigment is a meditative one. The intense observation required in realism is, for me, a valuable mental exercise. I use transparent watercolour because it's direct and unforgiving. It requires quick, clear thought and an orderly process. I've always been most interested in drawing. Working with a limited and familiar palette allows me to concentrate on drawing, but in colour
