Bonnie McLean received her BA in Art History and her MAC in Art Conservation from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.  She also has a Diploma in Commercial Art from George Brown College, Toronto.  She has traveled extensively throughout Canada and Europe and in the early 90s made her home in Central Frontenac County.  Her subject matter reflects her light-hearted approach to her work.

“With each painting my journey of discovery broadens.  Each piece of unconventional realism is inevitably unique, made up of a combination of eccentric characters dressed - or not - in bright, happy colours, layered on in unrepeatable combinations.  From a simple notion, the subject builds upon itself with each successive brush stroke, taking on a totally, unpredictable life of its own.  With an enthusiastic, perky blend of colour and quirky detail, my intention is to bring a smile to the face of the observer.
